Array should allocate a certain amount of memory on the virtual machine. So if you do not have much RAM, or use a wide range of applications on your primary OS, so yes, it can slow performance when you are on your virtual machine. In most cases it is not so noticeable. I am running a Windows virtual machine on my Linux machine without any noticeable slowdown at all. If you have a limited amount of memory, the answer is yes. I would say you need at least 2 GB of RAM, at least on the host computer before even trying.
